Coalville Trip

So in Coalville today, the Richins men had a little project to tackle for Kathi. They had to pull up all the large bushes and dead trees in the backyard. I know most of you have never seen the backyard, but it is a good size yard and practically the perimeter of the thing had large, overgrown bushes.
They manged to get all the bushes out and some hauled to the dump.
And Albert was the lucky one to get in the bucket of the backhoe in order to get high enough to cut the top of the dead tree off. No phone lines were hurt in the process. But one ice cream bar was sacrificed. (That one's for you Rebecca)
Dallin and Mom did get to ride in the backhoe while Dad drove. It was a first for Mom and Dallin. It was a bit of a refresher for Dad. It's been a while for him.

Now for the project Kathi and I tackled. I made a shirt for Dallin. Kathi had to do a little bit of sewing for me, but I did 95% of the work myself. And if anyone asks, Mandie only cut out the interface and nothing else. (I told you I would let everyone know Mandie)

It's a little big on him and it doesn't have buttons yet because we ran out of time, but I was quite proud of myself. What do you all think? It was hard but I enjoyed it still. I don't know if I could do it without Kathi sitting next to me. She did have to admit that a collared shirt was a bit difficult for a first project.

Now Dallin's project. He had a blast playing Wesley's piano. Can we say future musician?

UPDATE: This just in. Albert found the missing ice cream bar shortly after it was lost. He was able to eat it before it melted. Way to go Albert!

Pioneer Day

Just a couple of pictures since I haven't posted anything in a while. That's my brother-in-law Jared holding Dallin. And from this shot, we can see how tan Jared has gotten this summer. Sorry Mandie. I had to post these too. :)

We had a good 24th. I took the day off and all my in-laws stopped by throughout the day. It was fun. Dallin got a little worn out with so many visitors. Thanks to all those Richins for stopping by.

P.S. JC, I didn't comment because you dumb blog site won't let me because I don't have an account with them and I don't want an account with them. I have enough accounts to remember already. It is my mini protest. They should wise up and let everyone comment. Do you think they will take notice of my protest? I know, I don't think so either.

Dallin O'Fallin

Dallin has recently started to learn to pull up into a sitting position on his own. This has made bedtime even easier that before because when he doesn't want to go to sleep he just sits up and plays with his silky. The bad part is now I can't have things over the edge of the crib because he now can grab them and pull them in the crib with him. This picture is from the other night. He must have fallen asleep while he was sitting up. Then the camera flash woke him up. luckily we got a little smile and we laid him down and he went right back to sleep. Babies can sleep in the strangest positions. The night before this picture he had sat up in the corner of his crib and fell asleep with his head resting in the corner. And no, I didn't get a picture of that one. I wish I had, but it was 1:30 am when I went to check on him and discovered this. I wasn't thinking that clearly.

A few videos of Dallin "crawling." He sure tries hard.

Memory Game

Here is a fun little game... leave a comment on my blog of a memory that you and I have had together. It doesn't matter if you've known me for a short time or a long time, anything that you remember! Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It is pretty funny to read the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you are playing and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. On your mark... get set... blog those memories!

Smart Habit Saturday

July: Menu Planning

So this menu planning started out great. I sat down last Friday and wrote what I meals I wanted to make this last week. But then when Russ went shopping, we couldn't find where the menu was placed. And the grocery list was written on the back of the menu, so he did all the shopping from memory. Needless to say, there were several items that were forgotten. I did find the menu on Wednesday, but who needed it then? We just winged it the whole week. The important thing is we stayed in budget for weekly groceries and I didn't have to run to the store for any last minute items. Hopefully this next week will go a little better.

Plasma Center Mishap

For those who don't know, Russ goes to the Plasma Center often in order to have some guilt-free spending money. Usually he has no problems donating plasma, but this time the girl had a really hard time getting the needle in right. She finally got the needle in and they started the machine. About twenty minutes into it, a large bubble filled with blood formed just above where the needle was inserted. A different lady (one Russ is sure is more experienced) had to take the needle out and put it in his other arm in order to finish. This all happened Tuesday. As you can see from the picture, there is some major bruising. All that from one needle. Go figure. He'll be taking a few weeks off from the donations until it heals.

8 Months Old!

Dallin is 8 months old today. I wanted to get a cute picture of him to post, but he was way ornery today. (Well, as ornery as Dallin ever gets. I have to admit if all my babies end up having such a happy temperament as he has, I could easily want 5 or 6 kids. I'm getting side tracked) Anyway, this was the only non-ornery picture I could get of him. Isn't he sweet.

This picture was actually taken Sunday, but I thought he was cute. And since I didn't get any smiley pictures today, I thought I would share this one with you.

Weekend Of Fun

We've had a busy weekend. I've been off work since Wednesday and it's already Sunday. It went by so fast. Here's the rundown.

Wednesday: We took Lew to the MTC (pictures will come later). It was a hard one for me. He will be greatly missed.

Thursday: We got this bright idea to hike Lewis Peak (near the North Ogden Divide). Russ, my dad, Ty, and myself got up early and went. The good news is that no one died. The bad news is we all felt like we wanted to when we were done :) But we did make it to the top. While we were up there Jay called. He went into his front yard (in Plain City) and flashed a mirror at us. We thought it was so cool we could see the flash from the mirror, however no one thought it was so cool that we could just pick up the cell phone and talk to him way down there in Plain City. Anyone see the irony? :)

Friday: Happy 4th! We went out to spend the day in Plain City.
We watched the parade that morning. Afterwards we had our traditional family breakfast.
Dallin got some watermelon. He loves it. He got a little sticky, so Grandma Tana gave him a bath in her kitchen sink. He loves baths.
I was afraid Dallin would be scared of the loud fireworks, but he was mesmerized by them. He was such a good baby all day long. We never did take him to the Square, but Russ and I stopped by for a little bit while he napped.

Saturday: We headed to Coalville to visit Russ's family and to have some Dutch oven cooking. Unfortunately Dallin was not so good on Saturday. I think it was because he didn't get a long enough morning nap. (He did have some happy times, as the pictures show)

Mandie did finally get him to sleep that afternoon, after about 20 minutes of crying. Yeah Mandie!!! And when he woke up he was much happier.

Sunday: I think we will just hang out at home and prepare to go to work tomorrow. It's PIE Sunday at our house, so that means family time. Hope everyone else had a good Fourth.
