Look Grandma! I Can Cook!
Dallin helps me cook every chance he can get. He's getting pretty good at cracking eggs.

It's Raining, It's Pouring
Dallin and I didn't let a little rain stop us from playing outside. OK, so mostly it was Dallin's idea, but I went along. I basically played lookout so I could tell him when to get out of the road when a car was coming. He had the most fun in the gutter. He would try and move all the leaves so that it wouldn't dam up the water. He was soaked. He only agreed to come inside because Lansing's warning sirens went off. We are suppose to have 60 mph winds today and tomorrow, so the sirens are to let everything know to get inside. I, however, was not aware we had any warning sirens. I was confused and when they were still sounding after a minute or two I decided we should go in. After looking online, I guess they sound it for winds over 60 mph and for tornadoes. No tornadoes, but we have a weather warning for high winds. I just have to say that is was weird to me. I don't think I have ever lived anywhere with a city warning siren. It makes for a strange experience. It's like on Twister, but no flying cows :)
On another note, Dallin thinks Michigan is so different from Utah. He always says things like "Michigan has a lot more animals" or "Michigan has a lot more puddles." I would agree that Michigan is different, but we might disagree on why :)

Bald!
So I was trying to trim Dallin's hair today. I've done it before. Everything was going OK (as OK as it can be when hair and scissors are involved), then Dallin had a little freak out about the clippers and I was trying to cut and reassure him. This all lead to a bald spot, which lead to having to cut it all off. The whole time I'm cursing that fact that Brandi lives all the way in Utah! To make a long story short, here are the results...
I made this hat for Dallin. I was going to give it to him on his B-day next month. I decided to pull it out today. He needs something to keep that bald head warm. It just barely fit (He has a HUGE head for his age.)
This is him making a dinosaur face for me. Can you tell he finished the candy Becca sent him? We finished off this hair cutting episode by letting him watch a movie. Usually he just gets to watch TV in the morning while I'm getting ready, but I think he needed a little relaxing, and so do I.

Book Review
I loved it. It made me think and evaluate where I stand on this issue. It made me mad. It even made me laugh out loud. Even if you don't agree with the premise of the book, I think you should still read it. At least read the chapter "Strangers with Candy." If nothing else, it will help you teach your kids how to be safe. You can check her blog out too at http://freerangekids.wordpress.com/. If any of you read this book, let me know what you think. And since I know you are reading this Russ, you should read it too, even though I insisted in reading bits and pieces to you as I read it. :)

Super Why and the Train
| We went to the Children's Garden today. As we were leaving a train went by. We decided to go watch it. |
| I wouldn't let Dallin get any closer, but he sure had fun watching it. |
How for the Halloween costume. Dallin wanted to be Super Why, but I couldn't bring myself to spend $20 on a flimsy body suit. So I went crazy and decided to make it. I found some of it rather easy. The long sleeve shirt and the pants. I made the mask and cape. I got the material for the cape at $3 a yard. I only used one yard. The mask might need to be redone, so please over look that. But believe it or not, I couldn't find a green t0shirt anywhere. I looked at every store I could think of. And too make it worse, I could not find where his blue shorts disappeared to. One of to things, either they will turn up right after Halloween or I lost them at the Laundromat. Either way I had to order the t-shirt and shorts online. Both for under $3 a piece, but shipping was $6!!! At this point I was so far into the costume, I just did it. Not too happy. I think totally I spend almost $25! On the bright side, the clothing can be worn again (expect the pants, they are girl pants). And I know the cape will be well used. Enough about my costume woes. He sure loves it and has been asking to wear it every day.

Hey
Dallin- "Hey. Hey."
Mom- "What Dallin?"
Dallin- "Nothing. I'm just saying hey."
Mom- "Hey."
Dallin- "Ya, horsey food."
