A Quick Post Before We Leave

Dallin and I are just about to leave for the airport to head to Utah, but I wanted to share this first. Last night we went to the mall. While Russ was trying on pants at Old Navy, this is how Dallin entertained himself. Hope you enjoy!

Randomness

This is just a post about Randomness. Hope that's OK. Dallin and I will be in Utah for about 3 weeks, so I probably won't post anything for a while. We are excited.

Russ had an old pair of socks. One of them had a hole in the heal, so I attempted to make a sock monkey out of it. Dallin loves him. His name in Chocolate. (Dallin picked the name). I think next time I go to the store I might have to pick up some new socks and make Chocolate some fun friends. On a related note, I can't find my good sewing scissors and I am not happy about that.
This is just a picture Russ took of Dallin. Dallin's favorite toys, costumes and McDonald's toys. I don't know why we bother to buy anything else. :)
My second attempt at cookies. OK it was my third attempt, but the second attempt was a disaster.  They turned out pretty cute. While I am in Utah I want to stop buy a store in Murry that sells some of the decoration things I can't find here. I could order them online, but who wants to spend $6 in shipping for an item that only costs $2? And yes, I need to practice my writing. Dallin mushed his lion's nose.

So the poll is closed (OK it closed like 2 months ago) and here are the results of all 19 people who voted.

14 said a dishwasher instead of covered parking
2 said said covered parking over a dishwasher
4 said it depended on what kind of covered parking it was

I wouldn't be interested in who voted for what.

I might have to go with covered parking over a dishwasher. Part of that may be that there are only 3 people in this house. Part of that may be that I haven't had a dishwasher in 7 years but use to have a carport. I guess if I permanently had to decide between the two I would seriously have to think about it. I don't have either now, but since living in Michigan I would choose covered parking. This winter there were days it took me 20 minutes to even be able to open the car door because everything freezes so fast and hard in that awful wind. And then I had to scrape a half an inch of ice off the window. Not fun.

Well, I am excited to go to Utah. I hope my sister is up for making sock monkeys, decorating cookies (Of course we will give them away so we don't eat them all), and cutting out vinyl.

Easter Sunday

Easter Basket
We read chapter books at night. He got some of the Tree House Books.
New glove and ball.

We are lucky Russ and Dallin didn't break anything.
Sidewalk chalk for our little bitty porch.

Of course we have the Easter picture with new Easter clothes.

This video is me asking Dallin about Easter. If you are confused about the talk of "smarshmallows," this might help. We made resurrection rolls this morning before church. Russ said he had made these before way back during a high school class, of course they didn't use them to learn about the Savior.

MSU Butterfly Garden

At first Dallin wasn't so sure he wanted to hold the butterflies.

Can you see the huge caterpillar on the leaf?

Dallin finally decided he wanted to hold the butterfly on his own.

He carried it around for about 10 minutes.

He had to show everyone we saw.

The orange (Julia) butterflies where his favorite.

He tried so hard to hold a Julia but they never would get on his finger.
He sure had fun chasing them around though.

Hanging Out With Us

So here is an idea of what it is like to live with Dallin. Some days he will entertain Russ and me for hours in the evening. First up, dancing to his Scout puppy's music. The night I recorded this he did it for around an hour and wanted me to record every dance. I did, for about 6 or 7 dances. Finally I just held up the camera and pretended. He doesn't know to look for the red light to be on.
Here we have Dallin introducing his game of "find the hidden picture." He gets those Highlight magazines, and his favorite part about them is the hidden pictures. So, the other day he placed stickers all around the room on random items and had us look for them. Here is the intro...
On this particular day Dallin was driving me nuts a little energetic. I decided to let him play outside since it was pretty warm and I was working in the kitchen. He decided to have a stuffed animal picnic. Now maybe this is a video only his mother and grandmothers can enjoy, but I thought it was pretty fun to watch him play.

So for those of you know know me well, you know I am always trying new crafty things, usually failing miserably. The new thing I wanted to try was cookie decorating. I read this post at Bee In Our Bonnet. (By the way, their sugar cookie recipe is the best I have ever used. I think I found a new favorite!)  I decided to give it a try. I did a butterfly, because 1) it is a shape I already had, 2) I could use only 2 colors so I didn't have to make tons of icing, and 3) I figured since butterflies all look different in nature, they wouldn't have to look perfect. Here is what I came up with.
Dallin wanted to decorate one too. Here is his butterfly.

Finally, here are the extra cookies Dallin cut out and we decorated together. The one near the bottom of the picture was one of my favorite butterflies until I squeezed my bottle too hard and the lid popped off and icing spilled everywhere. Oops. I am still learning, right?
Needless to say we have been eating cookies all day. I have had three (good thing I have started running again) and Russ has had about the same. Dallin really hasn't eaten many. Mostly he asks for one, licks off all the frosting, and then insists he is done.
