Coloring Easter Eggs

We call it coloring eggs because Dallin acts all confused when we say dying eggs. So I know Easter is still like a month away (it is so late this year), but I saw this dinosaur egg kit at Aldi and couldn't resist. Of course, once Dallin saw it he was wanting to do it. So today I realized I had almost 3 dozen eggs in my fridge. I knew I was using one dozen to make this recipe today, but that still left 2. Also, we had to wait around the apartment for the A/C guy to stop by and change the filters, so we weren't going anywhere for a while. Why not color some Easter eggs? So we did. No pictures of the dying process, but here are the finished results. Dallin keeps "checking" on the dinosaurs in the fridge.

Dallin is eating a casualty. It got dropped and Dallin was so upset it broke. I think he thought he was going to get into trouble. Maybe if it had been raw. :)

This last picture is of Dallin and his Scout birthday puppy. He got it from a good friend of mine, Julie, when he turned 2. It's always been played with on and off, but this week we had to change the batteries because it was cutting out. Since then he has carried him all around, even to visit friends.  After taking pictures of Dallin and his eggs, he asked if I would take a picture of him and Scout. For anyone who has ever tried to take a picture of Dallin, you know this is odd behavior (He doesn't like any pictures). I wasn't going to pass up a cute picture request.

Trying It Out.

We were just trying out the Flip camera we won. I love the quality, but it is HD so they are large files and don't want to load very well. I was able load this one. Sorry about the poor lighting.

Look What I Won!

A lot of you know I am a big blog reader. Lucky for me they have things like Google Reader to tell me when they are updated or I would spend all day looking through them all to see if they posted anything new. I use to really only follow crafting blogs, but I recently started following cooking blogs, like Our Best Bites. A new one I started following about two weeks ago was Confessions of a Cookbook Queen. She has all sorts of amazing, yummy things to make, and none of them seem to hard. Nothing worst is when I want to make something and it is something so fancy-hancey (that's for you Ash) I know it will never work out even if I follow the recipe exactly. This blog is not like that. And to make it even better, I entered this drawing and I won! We are excited to have a fun family night. I bet Dallin is going to love Twister. Russ almost bought us a Flip camera for Christmas a couple years back, but decided we better not spend the money. Now I get one! Anyone out there have one or ever used one? What do you think of it?

7 Years + 1 Day

Yesterday was our anniversary.  It was 7 years ago that I married my eternal math tutor and favorite nerd. Crazy how time flies. I won't post one of those lovey-dovey, sickeningly sweet posts about how wonderful my husband is. (Although I think he is the best out there, that just isn't my style.) So instead I thought I would share the first time I remember meeting him.

The reason I say "first time I remember meeting him" is because we had an institute class together, but I don't recall see him till half way through the semester.  I'm sure I saw him before this, I just don't recall.  One day after institute I stopped a friend who was also in my math class, Denney, to ask some question. A guy was waiting for him outside the classroom in the hallway. He was wearing a white t-shirt (Typical of him back then) and his messenger bag (Still typical of him). Denney introduced me to his roommate Russ, the math major that Denney had referred to a couple of times before. The three of us walked back to campus together. I don't remember how it came up, but the first thing I remember Russ talking about was how much Torque it would take Superman to stop the rotation of the Earth. Yup, that was the way he picked up girls I guess. :) Either way, it worked. After I "stalked" him a little bit for math help (a story for another time), we were inseparable.

Thinking about this story still makes me laugh. Nothing like a totally confusing  Calculus II class to help you find your eternal companion. (Fibonacci numbers will always be near and dear to my heart now.)  Love you Russ!

7 month...almost

That is how long it takes to get adjusted to a new place. How long it takes to feel like you are home and not just visiting a new place. How long to feel like you have friends and acquaintances and not just friendly people trying to make you feel welcome. Part of the reason I think that it took me even this long is the adjustment to being a stay at home mom. That made the whole process a lot harder. Now if spring would come things would be great!

The Problem With Toy Story 3

... is now Dallin thinks it's a good idea to play garbage man. The foreground of the picture is the back of his garbage truck.  Back near the door is the dump.

 He is now unloading his garbage truck into the dumps. You can now see all the things in our house that don't have "homes." You know, the stuff that pills up on shelves, in corners, behind/under couches. That is all the stuff he gathered up for go to the dumps.

I can't get too mad.  When I asked him to clean it up, he cleaned it all up on his own and without complaint. All I did was put the cushions back on the couch and put some blankets away.  At least he has having fun and, most importantly, entertaining himself! (He's not the best at that yet.)

An Empty Think Tank

Any of you out there friends with Russ on Facebook? Is so, have you (like me) stopped reading most of his posts because you know they will all be of a political nature? (Before you judge me, I feel OK doing this even though I am his wife because most of the time we will discuss them over dinner or before bed. Plus, he always asks "did you read my post today?" so it's not like he doesn't know I skip them. I do read the short ones :)

Well, you may not have to block him any longer. :) He's started a blog to get down all his political thoughts. (Probably some science, math, and religion too.) It's at emptytank.blogspot.com (I plan on reading this. I like hearing his thoughts, but not on Facebook. I'm usually not looking for something deep when I get on.)


Now he can get back to his funny self again on Facebook. Yeah!
