Hanging Out With Us

So here is an idea of what it is like to live with Dallin. Some days he will entertain Russ and me for hours in the evening. First up, dancing to his Scout puppy's music. The night I recorded this he did it for around an hour and wanted me to record every dance. I did, for about 6 or 7 dances. Finally I just held up the camera and pretended. He doesn't know to look for the red light to be on.
Here we have Dallin introducing his game of "find the hidden picture." He gets those Highlight magazines, and his favorite part about them is the hidden pictures. So, the other day he placed stickers all around the room on random items and had us look for them. Here is the intro...
On this particular day Dallin was driving me nuts a little energetic. I decided to let him play outside since it was pretty warm and I was working in the kitchen. He decided to have a stuffed animal picnic. Now maybe this is a video only his mother and grandmothers can enjoy, but I thought it was pretty fun to watch him play.

So for those of you know know me well, you know I am always trying new crafty things, usually failing miserably. The new thing I wanted to try was cookie decorating. I read this post at Bee In Our Bonnet. (By the way, their sugar cookie recipe is the best I have ever used. I think I found a new favorite!)  I decided to give it a try. I did a butterfly, because 1) it is a shape I already had, 2) I could use only 2 colors so I didn't have to make tons of icing, and 3) I figured since butterflies all look different in nature, they wouldn't have to look perfect. Here is what I came up with.
Dallin wanted to decorate one too. Here is his butterfly.

Finally, here are the extra cookies Dallin cut out and we decorated together. The one near the bottom of the picture was one of my favorite butterflies until I squeezed my bottle too hard and the lid popped off and icing spilled everywhere. Oops. I am still learning, right?
Needless to say we have been eating cookies all day. I have had three (good thing I have started running again) and Russ has had about the same. Dallin really hasn't eaten many. Mostly he asks for one, licks off all the frosting, and then insists he is done.
