Dallin Talk

Our ward has a copy of gospel art book in with the hymn books on the back of the pews. (By the way, I think this is a wonderful idea.) During the sacrament I pull it out to look at with Dallin and tell him the stories in the pictures. Sunday we were looking at the picture of Mary teaching Jesus to pray as a young boy.

This is how the conversation went...

Me: Dallin do you know with that is? (pointing to the boy)
Dallin: Jesus
Me: Do you know who this is? (pointing to the woman)
Dallin: Yes
Me: That is Mary.
Dallin: Yes, and she has a lamb.

Craft Time

So Dallin and I ventured out in the car today. We didn't go far. We just drove to the local Dollar Tree. I realize that I have nothing fun to entertain Dallin with for long, so we went shopping. We decided to make monster puppets. We also made homemade microwave popcorn. I know, I didn't believe it would work either, but it did! Check it here.

Two pictures because one you can't see Dallin's face and the other you can;t see my puppet. I know you wanted to see my mad puppet making skills.

And don't think you are all off the hook for this last post. Not unless all those moms I know just let their kids watch TV all day. I doubt that's the truth. :)

New To This...

I just wanted everyone's advice.

I'm new to this stay at home mom thing, and I'm at a loss. I need any ideas you guys can think of. Since Dallin had an attention span of about 25 minute, we get through all the activity I plan by 10 am. I'm trying to think of things to do with him so he isn;t sitting in front of the TV all day long. Any ideas??? Please share! It doesn't have to be some great idea, just anything would help. Or many what kind of schedule those of you with toddlers keep.

I know I am rambling. I hope this make sense. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Quick Post

We got everything all unpacked today. Dallin has a nice clean room that is not also being used as a storage room (I can't say that about his last room). His bed is all set up, but I think he is having a hard time adjusting. The first couple of night Russ and I slept on an air mattress on his floor (because we gave up our bed for people who kindly came and helped us move) and he ended up by us on the floor. Last night he came into our bedroom at about 3am. Tonight I guess he wanted to sleep on the floor again. I don't get it. :)

We're Here!

After only 8 hours of sleep during 3 days of driving 1650 miles through 7 states with 6 people and 2 vehicles, we finally made it to Michigan yesterday.

Everything went very well. The hotels were great (thanks to Tina), Dallin did really well considering, and we had to major problems. However, after getting here and unloading everything, we discovered that the car died. It just had a bad battery and we got a new one this morning and everything is great again. What a blessing it was that it lasted until we got here. More later. Russ needs my help. Bye-Bye

June Bug Problem

We have had a little problem with June this year for some reason. The only other time I have seen one was the year I was pregnant with Dallin (many of you may remember the story of my hysteria at finding one on Russ's pant leg), but for some reason they have swarmed around our house anytime any light is on. We can hear them flying into out bedroom screen at night. And if you mess with them at all, they hiss loudly at you. Twice just this week we have found two of them that have managed to get into our house. They totally freak me out. I know they are harmless, but just look at them! I hope you appreciate that I got so close to get such a good picture. I did make Russ put the quarter down so you could get an idea of the size. After finding one tonight, I am going to be freaked out till morning. Yuck!
To end this post on a lighter note, Look at the beautiful rainbow we had yesterday. The picture doesn't do it justice.
