Sick Baby-Again

Dallin hasn't really been completely healthy since before Christmas, but the mild congestion and cough didn't seem to bother him. The on Wednesday evening he started to cry and didn't stop, not even to eat. After a couple hours of that we decide to take him to after hour care. Because he's only 3 months and there was no pediatrician they wouldn't see him and told us to go to the ER. We did. After a lot of tests, x-rays, and exams they said it was just colic and sent us home. That didn't seem right to me because he has never ever had colic. It was strange he would start now.

All Thursday he hardly ate or stopped crying. His babysitter said what little he did eat, he threw up. Friday was the same, so I finally called his Doctor. Turns out he doesn't have colic. He has a temperature and a virus of some sort. The doctor said he wasn't sure if it was a respiratory virus or the flu, but that it didn't really matter. The course of treatment is the same in a baby so young.

We have had very little sleep the last two night, and tonight probably won't be any different. He has cried so much he is now hoarse. I don't know how parent who have babies with colic do it night after night. There must be a special place in heaven for them.

That is no fun. It is so sad when you want to help these little ones feel better, but you don't know how. Good luck with the sleeping!

Oh-i'm so sorry you are going through this right now-it's really tough on you i know since you work and can't be home with him all of time. I will keep you in my prayers and hope he will start feeling better soon and you will be able to get some more sleep.

I'm sorry, Nic. My babies have colic for the first two months because of digestive problems, so I know how heartbreaking it can be. Holly and Abby are just barely getting over a nasty cold too. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help out. :-)
