Can I Have Jelly With My Rice?

Dallin and I go to the library at least weekly, if not more often. This means, we check out a lot of books. Last time we checked out Green Eggs and Ham. Dallin loved it, so we read it quite a lot. Near the end of the book, as the main character is finally trying the green eggs and ham, I would ask Dallin if he thought the guy would like it. He knew he would, since we read the book so many times. We would talk about how we should try new things even if we weren't sure if we would like them because we might end up liking them. You never know.

This leads me to tonight. We had rice with our dinner.  I asked Dallin if he would just like butter on his rice instead of the curry Russ and I were having. He said," Yes, I want butter and jelly too." Not a big surprise because he wants jelly on everything (toast, pancakes, French toast, etc.) I told him that we don't eat jelly on our rice because it would be gross. He then replied, "We should try it. We might like it." How can I argue with that logic?

So how did dinner end, you might ask? Dallin had strawberry jam on some of his rice. After he ate the jam covered rice, he asked if we could put grape jelly on the rest of it. I said OK. I can't very well teach him one thing and them insist it's wrong later. Maybe one day I will try it. :)

"I do not like rice and jelly. I do not like them Dallin boy!"

Ha ha ha! Dallin is just such a crack up! I never cared for Green Eggs and Ham when I was growing up, mostly because I was extremely picky and I just wished they would leave that poor guy alone! If he didn't like green eggs and ham they shouldn't have made him eat it!
