I really need to come up with better blog post titles. So, yesterday was Make it Monday. Of course I didn't plan anything so I had to come up with something that morning. We made Ooblek. If you've never made it, it is just water and cornstarch. When you apply force it feels like a solid but if you just let is sit in your hand it runs off like a liquid. Dallin loved it! He made a huge, fun mess while I showered. I call it a success.
Anyone who has spent any time with Dallin knows he is a major thumb sucker. He didn't start till he was 2 years old. We took his binkie away at 18 months, but around 2 he started to go to my cousin's house for daycare. Her little girl sucked her thumb and the doctor said he probably just started modeling the behavior and it stuck. *Does that mean I can send you the ortho bill, Meg??? Just teasing :)* Anyway, Dallin is now old enough that he knows he needs to stop but has a hard time remembering and also because it is his comfort. Finally he decided it was time and we ordered him a thumb guard. He got to pick out the color. It is just fabric and he can remove it, but so far it seems to be working. Down side, I am pretty sure that is why my usual 8:00 riser was up before 6 am. No thumb to put him back to sleep. :(
On to the allergies. I don't know if you can tell from the pictures above and even the next picture doesn't do it justice, but Dallin has been having major eye issues. His eye are both completely red and his lids and under eye are swollen. I have had him on allergy medicine for a week, but they keep getting worst. Finally Russ took him to the doctor last night just to be sure it wasn't pink eye or something worse. Luckily it is just allergies. Unfortunately all she can do to help is have me give him a higher dosage of Zyrtec and give him eye drops. Dallin is not happy about the eye drops, but hopefully they work. He has been a trooper. He has hardly complained about them at all and when I remind him to stop rubbing them he promptly complies.
Finally, just a random picture. Since our house we are buying doesn't have a tub (yet), we have been training Dallin to take a shower. He actually prefers them now. He decided to use his goggles and asked me to take a picture. So different from when he use to run from the camera when he saw it. I love this kid.

Oh I am so sorry about the allergies! Liv has had really bad allergies too. Ya just feel so bad for them!! WE had Liv on eyedrops, breathing treatments, and zyrtec. Finally we got her in Singulair and that has seemed to help. I hope he gets feeling better soon! Good job with the thumb sucking. That is what they had to do with Blake too :)
haha, I'm sorry about the thumb... but I laugh because now I babysit a little boy, and just today I saw him sucking on his fingers just like Hailey! I couldn't believe it, it made me think of Dallin. Let me know how the thumb guard works. We've been trying the stuff you paint on her nail.
